End of the term update

Hello all,

So many things happened this year,
We held our very first trivia night, several successful movie nights, some pub nights.
Several of the students put together  a Prof Appreciation potluck lunch and we said our official farewell to one of our beloved Professors, Dr. Mark Golden.
New people joined the UWCSA, and we made new friends.
The CACW came to Winnipeg and the University hosted their conference, allowing for many of our students a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear new and present research from some of the world's leading researchers.
Finally we discovered that our local Winnipeg Art Gallery was hosting the brand new Olympus exhibit - providing priceless new ideas for classes that will occur next year in accordance with the exhibit.

It was a brilliant year, and our consuls would thus like to say a final farewell, as this years leaders.

Many thanks come from Arielle and Ruth, who finished off the Winter term of 2015 as the UWCSA consuls.

And we will see you all next year, with your new incoming consuls and the new UWCSA secretary.
Meet Courtney, the UWCSA secretary, and the consuls - Simone, Corbin and Cody.

Many thanks,
-Ruth and Arielle, Your Consuls.

Hello Updates!

Look at this a new update and on time... for once. Surprise, surprise.

Since last week, a lot has happened.
Friday the UWCSA had their Trivia Night at Garbonzo's and it was a huge success!
While there, we announced that we will be unable to go ahead with the Toga Social, however, in it's stead we will be throwing a SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL Tournament! (To the Death) on Feb. 27 2015 from 7-10pm.
We'll have posters, signup sheets and more available by the end of the month. The entrance fee will be $7 dollars and all are welcome! We'll have some pretty fantastic prizes for the top participants.

A "Wild' Update Appears... and TRIVIA NIGHT

Hello all,

Remember that time last year where Arielle promised the blog would be updated at least monthly. Yah, that didn't happen. So... first and foremost she just wanted to apologize for that - it is a well known fact and almost an on running theme for this year that technology has not been her friend.

Now that excuses are out of the way let's talk business, shall we?
Since the last post not a whole lot has happened, well that a lie really, a lot has happened - just not a whole lot of it was over exciting.
First of all meetings have moved back to their original time, Wednesdays from 1230-120 in the Classics common 4G07. Hopefully this will be more convenient for all!
Secondly, The UWCSA has held a few successful Bake Sales and we've raised some funds... but ...
That being said the group, sadly did not raise nearly enough start-up capital for this year's Toga Social. We are deeply sorry that we couldn't manage this year. However, the group has come up with some exciting surprise ideas that we will be unveiling within the next few weeks to make up for this, and we still intend on donating half of whatever we make from this surprise to the Children's Hospital!

Hello all,
It's been a while has it not?
The UWCSA is glad to be back with a new set of Consuls, or more aptly perhaps a Triumvirate
Meet Royce and Alex, along with Arielle, who is returning from last year!

We're pleased to meet you all!

First things first, meetings this year will be held in the Classics Common Room 4G07 Thursdays at 12pm (take the elevator across from Riddell Hall, not beside it! ), too which all are welcome to attend, as well as bi-weekly updates, that will be posted here if you are unable to make it.
Now for some other shop cleaning items, and a friendly reminder that if you're a student in need of assistance with Classics courses please let us know! The Common Room has a working library (and usually students when they are there) who are more than willing to assist you if need be, when the Common Room is open. Please drop the Consuls a line at our Email address if you need help in this matter and we'll find you someone who will be willing to assist you (and who has taken the class before). Or if you're interested in seeing things like study groups or workshops on how to find and utilize ancient sources let us know that too!
