Classics Scholarship Opportunities!

Hey team! Dr. Golden asked me to pass this information along. It concerns a few Classics related scholarships whose application deadlines are reapidly approaching. Be sure to check them out A.S.A.P, and, if you're interested, talk to him about applying. Alternatively, if you're more clever than I am, figure out how to do it all yourself and get to it! 2011/2012

Hello, hello, one and all! The new school year has begun, and the Classics Club (now under new management) has started up as well! We've got some exciting stuff in the offings, just you wait.

In case you're wondering, the club meets at 12:30 every Wednesday, in the Classics and Philosophy Common Room (4G07) until further notice (we're looking into finding a bigger room, due to the splendidly high number of new-comers this year - more on that as news becomes available).

Some highlights from the meetings to date (in case you missed them):
- We're working on putting together a Classics Club scholarship! More on that later...
- Zombie Walk/Pub Night, Oct. 14th! We're dressing up as Roman zombies, and it will be AWESOME.
- A Pizza sale will be coming soon to a campus near you! Details to follow...
- Ideas for this year's t-shirts are being sought - let us know if you come up with something witty!
- And much, much more!

Spring Convocation 2011

Spring Convocation is coming up and a number of people we know are graduating!

I'm not going to list them, because I'm pretty sure that I'll forget someone and then feel bad for doing so.  Go check it out if you can, or watch it live online.  Details about the day can be found on the UofW site here.  Plus, rumour is that I'll be getting up to give a speech.  Sneak preview - it includes both Latin and Dr. Seuss.

Doors open to Duckworth Centre for the morning ceremony

9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Ceremony for the conferring of degrees in Arts (Jennesa's speech is last)

12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Reception honouring the graduating class
Spence Street Promenade
The reception takes place outdoors so please bring an umbrella if it's a rainy day.
